Callers access the Health Information Library
by dialing the main hospital phone number
and then entering in the code for the topic
that they would like information on. A directory of the codes is available through the
main HealthSource line.

Construction Services
Construction Services, in conjunction with Corporate
Compliance, sponsored two Habitat houses for
Baptist Health Care employees.
Baptist Health Care donated two contiguous lots on
West Mallory Street, just west of the main campus.
The first home was dedicated in May 2005 and the
second one is currently under construction and
targeted for dedication around June 2006.
Each Habitat home requires a sponsorship
commitment of $25,000 which was funded as
follows:
• The land value for each piece of property was
$10,000.
• The Helping Hands committee of the Baptist
Health Care Foundation contributed $7,500
towards each home.
• The remaining $7,500 for each home was
procured through either monetary or in-kind
donations from various Baptist Health Care
contractors and vendors.
Construction Services, in conjunction with Property
Management, hosted a class Christmas party on
December 16, 2005. This was part of a company-wide
class sponsorship effort that included a Life Flight
visit by Santa Claus.
During the Spring 2005 semester, Construction
Services participated in the Advanced Career
Experience program by mentoring an intern in the
school’s Drafting & Design Technology curriculum
program. The senior student spent several days a
week in the Construction Services office learning and
working on small projects to gain “real world”
experience, under the tutelage of a Construction
Services staff member.
Baptist Hope
In October 2005, Baptist Health Care launched HOPE,
a Healthcare Outreach Program for Employees,
impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Baptist HOPE, an
outreach program supported by Baptist Health Care
employees, is designed to provide a bright future for
adopted employees and to support the continuation
of health care for affected communities. Departments
throughout Baptist Health Care “adopted” employees
from Ochsner Clinic Foundation, in New Orleans, and
provide support and assistance as needed to help the
employee transition back to some normalcy.
The Baptist HOPE program also provided assistance
to Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss.
Baptist Health Care employees donated $5,000 to an
Employee Relief Fund established to help employees
displaced from their homes buy essential items and
cover costs associated with the devastation of the
storm.
FirstRehab
• Provided certified athletic trainers to all high
schools in Escambia County Florida and Alabama
as well as Santa Rosa County.
• Coordinated trainer coverage for a variety of
community sports tournaments including flag
football, soccer, basketball and tennis. Assisted
with other events including the ‘Walk for
Wellness,’ Pensacola Marathon, Blue Angels air
show and the Special Olympics track meet.
Conducted free, annual physicals for student
athletes in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
Over 2400 students were examined, and 900
echocardiograms were performed.
• Offered seminars, demonstrations and trainings
on topics including CPR, nutrition, exercise,
disease prevention, communication styles and
sleep disorders.
• Administered ‘transfer training’ to people who
staff special needs shelters in times of disaster.
• Mentored Pensacola High School and Pensacola
Junior College students who are seeking allied
health careers.
LifeFlight
• Administered 20 training classes.
• Provided five static displays at local
community events including Dupont Family
Day, Wilmar Family Day, Navarre Children’s
Safety Day, LeMoyne Industrial Park
Community Day and an event at the Hadji
Shrine Temple.
• Participated in the official lighting of the
Seville Square Christmas tree. LifeFlight
hovered over the tree and provided overhead
spotlight.
• Conducted LifeFlight presentations to the
USA EMT class and the Lion’s Club.
• Participated in American Red Cross Blood
Drive.
• Administered two Prom Promise
presentations for George County High School
and Navarre High School. These
presentations entailed live demonstrations for
high school students to illustrate what
happens when you drink and drive.
• Participated in the Surviving Trauma

answer questions and show LifeFlight.

the Escambia and Santa Rosa County court

classes to Escambia County Sheriff’s office
employees and a local child care facility.
