What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

  • An EAP is an employer-sponsored, workplace-focused program for employees, managers, supervisors and organizations.  It is aimed at improving workforce performance and productivity.

  • An EAP provides confidential professional assistance for employees whose personal problems have seriously affected their job performance.

  • An EAP gives supervisors a tool for dealing with employees whose personal situations have affected their productivity.

  • An EAP demonstrates an employer's concern for the workforce.

What Service Does It Provide?

  • Up to three sessions with a licensed counselor from the Center for Personal & Family Development of Lakeview

  • Referral, if appropriate, to community resources

  • Employee orientation to the program and a reference brochure

  • Supervisor orientation with an instructional component and a brochure for a reference

  • Ongoing educational classes and seminars

  • Informational cards for new employees

  • Wellness cards for paychecks
