Because faith often plays an important role in people's lives, spiritual growth is recognized as one of the four cornerstones of recovery, which also includes physical, emotional and relationship growth. Lakeview Center employs a clinically trained chaplain who is available at all times to address the spiritual needs of our clients.
For Your Reflection (A Weekly Message from Chaplain Dan Hamel.)
Out of Lakeview's Spiritual Care Center, we are beginning a new endeavor. "Our Faith Connections," is a collaborative effort between clients and staff members of the Lakeview Center, Inc., and the Pensacola chapter of NAMI, the National Alliance for Mental Illness. It is our vision to work with all local faith communities to welcome, include, support, educate, and advocate for individuals and families who are living with mental illnesses.
Our goals are to … help destigmatize mental illness, educate faith communities about mental illness, inform mental health professionals about faith and religious issues with regard to mental health healing and recovery, network churches and community resources to better meet local mental health needs, encourage one another and provide spiritual support to individuals and families struggling with mental illness.
I am asking staff and clients to help get the word out. I've attached a hand bill which can be printed and passed along into the faith communities which you are a part of.
